Chocorua Basin Thrush Survey Results

Harriet Hofheinz is an active CLC volunteer and supporter, and before that was a dedicated volunteer for the Chocorua Lake Association since nearly its inception; she served as President of the CLA for a number of years leading up to the merger that resulted in the CLC. She is also a longtime citizen scientist. More than 25 years ago, in response to her concern about the decline of Neotropical songbirds in the Basin, Harriet began a Breeding Thrush Survey project to see if her perception would be borne out by data. From 1993 to 2018, Harriet and a team of volunteers surveyed thrush populations in the basin, and found, over that time, a decline in numbers. She has shared the results of her work with us, written in collaboration with Henry C. Stevens—click the button to view or download it. Thank you, Harriet and Henry, for your dedication to this land and the flora and fauna that inhabit it.
