When you donate to Chocorua Lake Conservancy, you join our community effort to protect Chocorua Lake and the lake basin, and the flora and fauna that make their homes here, from the environmental pressures of human use, development, and a changing climate.

You also support our commitment to care for the land and water while ensuring that we humans can use and enjoy this beautiful place—can come here for recreation, to connect with quiet and stillness, and to spend time with loved ones outside the rush of daily life. Through the seasons, the lake basin is a place to return to—to swim or kayak across the lake, to drop a fishing line off the bridge or through the ice, to experience the sled dog races, or to wander through the trails listening to birds calling high in the trees and noticing the tiny wildflowers and colorful mushrooms that pop up through the forest floor.

Our work is only possible because of donors and volunteers. Please join us by becoming a CLC member. Prefer a monthly donation or an auto-renewing annual donation? Become a sustaining member here. How will my donation be spent?

Chocorua Lake Conservancy receives no town or state funding. CLC depends upon donations from its members, friends and visitors to fund most annual expenses, including:

  • New plantings and annual maintenance projects to preserve the natural beauty of all public access areas, reduce erosion, and prevent nutrient and sediment runoff into the lake.

  • A twice-daily litter patrol to keep the Grove, Island and other CLC-owned public access areas free of trash from Memorial Day through late October.

  • Regular samplings of lake water quality.

  • Toilets in the Grove and Island areas for thousands of visitors from Memorial Day to late October.

  • Maintenance and periodic replacement of the historic wooden railings on the Narrows Bridge.

  • Maintenance and repairs of the dam at the outlet from the Little Lake to the Chocorua River.

  • Maintenance of almost 1,000 acres of conservation land around Chocorua Lake owned or managed by CLC.

  • Monitoring and protection of 3,000 additional acres in the Chocorua Lake Basin through covenants and easements held by CLC.

CLC is a volunteer-led, 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization as designated by the Internal Revenue Code of the United States (EIN 02-0277083). All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
