We are fortunate to live in an area of remarkable natural beauty, surrounded by mountains, rivers and extensive open land featuring numerous trails. We have mountain hiking trails, snowmobile trails, XC ski trails and walking trails. The one type of trail we don’t have is an all persons accessible trail. That is about to change!

The Tamworth Community Nurse Association (TCNA), in collaboration with Chocorua Lake Conservancy (CLC), is planning the construction of the first All Persons Accessible Trail in Tamworth. Thanks to the generosity of the Korson family, and the support of CLC members, the Tamworth Conservation Commission, and many other individuals, this ADA compliant trail will soon become a reality. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall; initial clearing has already started.

TCNA and the CLC are working together on this project because both organizations realize the benefits of spending time outdoors in a natural environment and the positive effect it can have on the health and well-being of people of all ages. We also recognize the need for an All Persons Trail here in Tamworth, as there are many residents who hiked these local trails for years but now find them inaccessible for various reasons. Families with young children will enjoy this trail, letting their kids explore the forest while walking along a flat, safe surface or riding along in a stroller. From the youngest to our most senior residents, all will have the opportunity to experience the beauty and tranquility of this woodland accessible trail situated among 3000 acres of conservation land that will be preserved and protected for generations to come.

If you would like ‘the whole story’ of how this accessible trail project came to be, or if you would like to donate to this worthwhile project, please visit the TCNA website.

See you on the trail!
