Community members have an opportunity this month to own a gorgeous Byron Carr oil painting of Mount Chocorua and the Chocorua Lake Basin while supporting the mission of the Chocorua Lake Conservancy: to protect the scenic and natural resources of the Chocorua Lake Basin and maintain public access to the lake and nearby trails.
Acclaimed artist Byron Carr of Contoocook, NH, has generously donated to the CLC two beautiful, framed oil paintings of the Chocorua Lake Basin, with Mount Chocorua in the background. The first (16x20) is for sale at the Art Works Gallery in Chocorua, and the second (24x30), also on display at Art Works, is available by online auction through August 31. Visit bit.ly/carr-auction to access the auction. Proceeds from both paintings will support the work of the CLC.
Byron, born and raised in Contoocook, is an award-winning lifelong artist who has been showing his work since the early ‘90s. Many of Byron's paintings are done in the style of the Hudson River School. Three of his paintings are currently on display at the Jackson Historical Society, and four of his paintings hang in the Rockingham County Courthouse.. To see more of Byron’s work and learn more about him, please visit Wet Paint Tamworth and the Covered Bridge Gallery. He was inspired to donate these two paintings by his love of the Chocorua Lake Basin and his appreciation of the CLC’s work protecting and preserving it. Thank you, Byron, for your generosity!
Art Works Gallery, which displays the work of artists working in diverse media, is located at 132 White Mountain Highway in Chocorua, and is open most days in August from 10AM-5PM. If you’re planning a special trip out, you can give them a ring at 603-323-8041 to confirm that they’re open.
