Spring brings an abundance of ephemerals, flowering plants so called because they bloom for a brief time in the early spring, often before the trees have fully leafed out.
On Saturday, May 18 from 8-10AM, join Chocorua Lake Conservancy (CLC) for Spring Wildflowers: Plant Walk & Knowledge Share, with Sky Jowdy and Juno Lamb. We will investigate spring ephemerals and other plants in the diverse habitats of CLC’s Charlotte C. Browne Woods in Chocorua. During our time together we will practice skills of quiet observation, optionally use nature journaling as an aid to detailed noticing, share what we notice with each other, and discuss ethical foraging and plant medicine. We will share what we know and what we are learning, and hopefully deepen our connection to the land and some of the magical plants we live among.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear close-toed shoes or boots. If you like, bring sun and/or bug protection, a water bottle, and snacks, as well as a pencil and a journal or paper. You may want to bring a blanket or pillow to sit on. Free for CLC members and kids; $10 for non-members. Please register in advance so that we can let you know of any changes in the schedule.
