“Adopt-a-Highway” Trash Pickup

  • The Grove (Chocorua Lake Conservancy) (map)

In 2003, the Chocorua Lake Conservancy adopted the two-mile stretch of Route 16 that starts at Heavenly Hill, where you’ll find the newly-opened Basin View Lot, and runs north the length of the lake. CLC volunteers have been keeping that stretch of road clean two or three times a year ever since.

On Sunday, July 11, from 8:45-10:30AM, join the Chocorua Lake Conservancy for our annual summer “Adopt-a-Highway” Trash Pickup along Route 16. We’ll meet in the Grove by Chocorua Lake, near the Narrows Bridge at the end of Chocorua Lake Road, at 8:45, and we usually finish by 10 or 10:30. Please come with gloves, good walking shoes, and please wear bright, preferably day-glo clothing. Bring a bathing suit, too, if you’d like to go for a dip in the lake afterward—or a kayak! CLC Lake Patrol Officer Troy Emerson will provide safety vests and trash bags. If you have not yet been vaccinated, or are less than two weeks from your last shot, please bring a mask for moments when social distancing is not possible. Please email lflaccus@chocorualake.org with your phone number to let us know you will be coming so that we can let you know of any changes in the schedule. We hope you can join us—more helpers means we all finish faster!
