Help us welcome volunteers from Student Conservation Association AmeriCorps to our community and support habitat for our wild friends at the same time.
Join the Chocorua Lake Conservancy for a Stewardship Day at the Charlotte C. Browne Memorial Woods. CLC board member Sheldon Perry will be working with two Student Conservation Association AmeriCorps volunteers and CLC volunteers to care for the fruiting shrubs we planted last summer to improve wildlife habitat. To give our shrub investment a good start to the winter, we’ll prune and weed around them and add mulch to keep invading plants at bay. While we’re working, we’ll have a chance to hear from the AmeriCorps volunteers about what their service work has entailed.
Many hands make light work—we invite you to join us for a morning of exercise, fun and camaraderie with a gorgeous view of Mount Chocorua, and to come for as little or as much time as you like. If we have enough volunteers, we may also work on limbing trees that stretch into the field, to provide a little head room for our wonderful volunteer who mows the field for us! Meet at 9AM at the CC Browne Woods on Washington Hill Road in Chocorua, or come find us if you arrive later. Bring water, a snack, gloves, and your favorite clippers and shovel if you have them, and we will have tools, too.
